Listen and Learn. Every client is unique. Listening carefully will help us align clients’ expectations with our responsibilities as service providers.
Don has excellent work habits, working quickly and steadily toward completion of a project. His role as Tax Manager he helps others learn those good habits. When explaining a client to a staff person, he likes to personalize the client to the staff by presenting a brief resume on the client. In his experience, that personalization of the client will often lead staff to think of other ways to provide services to clients.
Part of the process of listening to our clients and understanding their needs for tax preparation purposes often leads to an understanding of other areas in which our clients have unfulfilled needs. Don recently interviewed a first time client who came in for assistance with her position as a personal representative of a decedent’s estate. That interview led to a discussion about other services JCCS can provide for her and her husband beginning next tax season.
Don is a Montana native. Although he has lived and worked in other states and another country, most of his life has been in Montana. He enjoys almost everything; especially tax work, trap shooting, good computers, a nice wine, grandchildren, duplicate bridge and walks with his wife. He also enjoys volunteering in the community and has been involved in local government, American Red Cross, Sons of Norway and others.
