Many businesses view their accountant primarily as a resource for tax compliance or bookkeeping. Dave Gilmer believes the role of a CPA can—and should—extend far beyond that. At JCCS, Dave and the firm’s advisors partner with both business and individual clients on broader financial matters such as retirement and education planning, budgeting, employee benefit plan design, and long‑term business transition planning.

As tax laws and deduction rules continue to evolve, Dave works closely with clients to analyze new requirements, assess risks and opportunities, and evaluate the financial, operational, and personal impacts of key decisions. This proactive approach allows clients to adapt confidently and position their businesses and personal finances for long‑term success.

Dave understands firsthand the challenges local businesses face. As a member of JCCS’s management team and the firm’s Director of Tax, he addresses many of the same issues his clients encounter, including personnel management, operational procedures, technology decisions, and firm‑wide strategic planning.

Originally from Colorado, Dave moved to Western Montana in 1998 to pursue his love of the outdoors. While he still enjoys camping, fishing, and hunting, he now spends most of his free time with his family on the lake.
